Dan Pannell

Dan Pannell represents Picardy winery, one of Australia's leading premium boutique wine producers, established in 1993 in the Pemberton region of Western Australia.

Picardy is owned and operated by Bill, Sandra and Dan Pannell. Bill and Sandra were pioneers of the Margaret River region, establishing Moss Wood vineyard and winery in 1969. Moss Wood went on to be a driving force in establishing Margaret River as one of Australia's important growing regions.

Picardy strives to continue this tradition of wine-making quality and excellence & is world-renowned in the Pinot world. Dan has grown up in the wine industry and completed a Bachelor of Science (Oenology) at the University of Adelaide.

John Klepec (Below & Above)

Kia & John Klepec first discovered Pemberton as a stunning, untouched holiday destination for their then young family. Over years of visiting they felt a connection with the land & the sweeping Karri forests. When an opportunity arose in 2012 to purchase our vineyard they jumped at the chance.

The vineyard had initially been planted in the mid 1990s & in 2013 under the direction of well known contract winemaker Bruce Dukes, they started to produce wines under the label, Below & Above.

Nina Throsby (2023 Sommelier of the Year)

Nina Throsby is a quiet achiever, a younger-gen practitioner and a sommelier and drinks custodian with focus, diligence and a seemingly unquenchable thirst for knowledge.

Tenacious in approach, Throsby's work is illustrated with creative wines that lean heavily into local producers while selecting carefully from further afield.

Colourful, broad wine knowledge has followed, tapping the zeitgeist while flexing with the individual needs of different varietals.

A gun, with fresh ideas and an individual take on the role of a sommelier, it will be a delight to here Nina's take on our great Pinot's.
